Founded in 1903, Isidore Newman School is a co-educational independent school, serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, where students are valued individually, engaged academically, and taught to be socially responsible. Newman is the only co-educational, non-sectarian, independent day school in the city of New Orleans.
Newman is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest. The School also is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, the Educational Records Bureau, the College Board, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

The Campus: 11 acres in Uptown New Orleans, offering two libraries with more than 70,000 volumes, wireless technology, five fully-equipped science labs in Lower and Middle Schools and a science building in Upper School, fine arts facilities, including a recently-renovated theater, tech workshop and art gallery, art studios and dedicated rehearsal space for band and chorus, a four-story athletic complex with Olympic-sized pool and weight training facility, and a football and practice field
National Scholarship: In the past five years, 44 percent of graduates were named National Merit Semifinalists, Commended Students, National Achievement Semifinalists or Scholars, National Hispanic Scholars, National Merit Scholars or National Merit Finalists.
College Matriculation: In the past four years, 428 Newman graduates have matriculated to 128 different colleges and universities. Of those, 32 percent enrolled in public universities; 68 percent in private. Of the 428 graduates, 13 percent elected to remain in Louisiana for college; 87 percent enrolled in colleges in other states across the country.
Advanced Placement: In the 2003 - 2004 school year, 179 Newman students in grades ten through twelve took 315 AP exams in 20 subjects. Of those, 85 percent of the scores were 3 or above. Because of the rigorous nature of all of Newman's English courses, Newman does not offer AP English. However, 36 percent of the students in the class of 2005 took an AP English exam last year, and 79 percent of the scores were 3 or above.
Athletics: Newman offers between 40 and 50 team sports to seventh through twelfth graders, and more than 80 percent of Newman students play on at least one team.
Technology: Newman offers a networked wireless campus, including student laptops in the Upper School and technology-enriched curriculum in all divisions.
