Students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff may access their community by clicking on the portals at the top of the page.
Since 1903, Newman has been providing a top-quality education to the children of New Orleans. Thanks to our long history and a long list of interesting and successful alumni, the School is woven into the very fabric of the city. Newman enjoys a national reputation for excellence and achievement in academics, athletics and the arts, and our students go on to the top colleges and universities in the country.
The School prides itself on reaching out to the community, through Summerbridge, a free program that prepares area students for independent schools; through STARS, where our lower school students share science labs with area students, and through a wide variety of community service activities happening throughout the school year in all divisions.
Reaching high and reaching out. Striving for excellence in a nurturing, value-driven environment. Having fun while doing our best. That’s the Newman spirit.

Two Alumni are Among Gambit's 40 Under 40 11/4/2008
Science teacher and acting chair of the department Jane Meneray has one more reason to be proud of her son, Gene, who graduated from Newman in 1991. He was picked as one of Gambit Weekly’s “40 Under 40,” the annual honor bestowed on young New Orleanians making a difference. Meneray is director of the Arts Business Program at the Arts Council of New Orleans, and as such he counsels artists and conducts workshops about how to make a living in the arts. He also formed the Entertainment Law Legal Assistance Project with support from the Tipitina’s Foundation and Tulane Law School.
And Lauren Baum ’99 also was honored as one of the 40 under 40. Specifically, Gambit highlighted her work creating IDEAcorps, which helps recovering businesses remain solvent, and for her work with 504ward, which encourages young professionals to live and work in New Orleans.
