Welcome to the Middle School
In Newman's Middle School curriculum, learning can be fun. Students engage in a variety of creative learning activities that spark their interests and imaginations. But this doesn't mean our classes are easy. Our standards are high; our Middle School curriculum is challenging. Students are expected to master skills in math, science, language arts, and social studies, to achieve competency in the application of computer software to their core academic courses, to build a solid foundation in the foreign language of their choice, and to participate in fine arts and physical education classes. A clearly defined Honor system emphasizes important values, and our Human Development Program addresses issues critical to young people in the throes of adolescence.
"Teaching styles at Newman are versatile. It’s not like walking into a class and having someone stand in front of you and lecture for an hour. That doesn’t happen here. Teachers approach learning styles differently; we try to appeal to the auditory learners as well as the visual ones, as we work to reach every student."
