Upper School
Community Service
In the Upper School, the students’ commitment to community service exists on a purely voluntary basis. There is no extra credit, no time off from school for involvement in philanthropic activities, no tangible benefits at all. The students choose to help the because of their desire for a better community, and also because of the long legacy of philanthropy of the Newman School’s students.

These Upper School community service events include Service Day, in which students spend the day off campus volunteering for various community agencies. Other community service projects are also coordinated through A.C.T.I.O.N.S. (A Club to Involve Our Newman Students). Recent A.C.T.I.O.N.S. events have included a blood drive and community clean-up activities.
