Dear Lower School Parents,
The Newman Extended Day program is designed to be a “neighborhood” environment where age-mixed groups have the freedom to choose from creative and fun indoor activities, reading time, homework time, and outdoor playground time. The staff creates a safe, secure, and supportive atmosphere for your children each afternoon.
Extended Day is available to Newman Lower School students at the conclusion of all full days of school from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Our Extended Day format has changed slightly from that used in past years. Now, parents may choose from three possible options when deciding how to best utilize Extended Day to meet their personal needs.
Option #1 Full Use – 4 or 5 days per week, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This plan has one monthly or reduced yearly fee to enroll a child in Extended Day for 5 (or 4 days depending on a family’s needs) each week and for as many as 3 hours (3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.) per day.
Option #2 Half Use – 3 or fewer days per week, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This plan also has one monthly or reduced yearly fee to enroll a child in Extended Day for as many as 3 days each week and for as many as 3 hours (3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.) per day.
Option #3 Drop In Care - $21.00 per day, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This is structured as a service for families in need of situational or occasional use of Extended Day without the need for pre-enrollment. However, prior notification from a parent to the Extended Day office before 2:30 p.m. is required. The $21.00 fee will be billed to parents by the Newman business office.
To provide the best possible care for your children on a continual basis, enrollment in extended day is limited. To enroll, complete the yellow form and return it in the envelope provided by Friday, August 15th. Extended Day will begin on the first day of school.
Listed to the right are the fees for the 2008-2009 Extended Day program. If you have any questions about the program, please email me at kdorsky@newmanschool.org or call 896-6377. All messages should be left after Sunday, August 10th.
