Newman is a community. Students aged 1-18 spend their year here learning, working, and playing on one central campus in Uptown New Orleans. This sense of family and diversity drives our school and makes it unique. The 2008 Summer Session is designed more than ever to fill our campus with the same spirit of community and excellence that drives Newman through the school year.
Isidore Newman School’s motto is Discimus Agere Agendo – We learn to do by doing. Our goal is the same when creating our Summer Session program. Our experienced and creative faculty utilizes Newman’s campus and their own creative styles to create courses that provide students with hands-on opportunities to learn in an environment that is cooperative and energetic. The end result may be the development of a new skill, creation of a finished product, or the presentation of a final performance. In small classes, each student is valued for their contribution and individuality while working together as a team with their classmates to reach a goal.
As Newman’s Summer Session draws students from throughout the city, state, and nation, students have an opportunity to make new friends while working with the many resources available on campus. Faculty-designed curriculum is also offered in morning or afternoon blocks, allowing a level of flexibility in your student’s summer experience that is unique to Newman’s Summer Session.
There are also courses offered for all of our age groups and interests. Whether your child is just entering school for the first time, or making plans to apply to college, we have a summer opportunity for him or her. From film history to book cooks, forensics to soccer, there is something to interest every child.
As we do value each individual student, and strive to keep class sizes small in the pursuit of this directive, each course’s enrollment is limited and we encourage early registration. Please contact us through phone or email if you have any questions or would like more information.
