NEWMAN PARENTS ASSOCIATION WELCOMES YOU TO THE 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR
PARENT TO PARENT
As parents of Isidore Newman School students, you are also members of the Newman Parents Association (NPA). The NPA works to foster our sense of community and provides an army of volunteers who gives hundreds of hours of time each year to enrich the school and the lives of our children.
NPA staffs 28 committees, so there are plenty of opportunities to find a place to use your talents. We need leaders as well as worker bees; people who love books, sports or cooking; people who crunch numbers; working and non-working parents; people who want to meet others, and those who would like to do something from home. You will enjoy your children's time at Newman all the more when you're a part of the school community. You can find out more by clicking on Volunteer Opportunities on the left, then simply complete the Greenie Volunteers form and send it in as soon as possible.
Although community building is one of NPA’s primary goals, over the past decade we have contributed more than $1 million to the School through our fundraising efforts. These funds have gone to support faculty enrichment, visual arts, performing arts, athletics, libraries, financial aid scholarships and numerous gifts to directly enhance the academic experience of Newman students. Your support of NPA’s various fundraisers provides valuable additions to the school’s budget.
NPA also aims to facilitate communication between administration and parents. To keep up with the latest school news and events, please frequently check the website. This is your best tool to stay apprised of the numerous activities at Newman. A member of the Technology Department will explain how to get the most out of the website during the first NPA meeting on September 11 at 8:30am in the Reynolds Ryan Art Gallery. Please join us. Better yet, come at 8:00am for the New Parents Coffee. Whether you’re a new or a veteran Greenie, we’d love to see you.
Best wishes for the remainder of the summer,
Lisa Brooking
President
Newman Parents Association
