Planned Gifts
Overview
Newman has been through a challenging year but it continues to be one of the best schools in the country. The School’s endowment is over $30 million and growing. However, now more than ever, it is important, to secure the future of the School. While many people choose to give immediate, cash gifts, in many cases this is not practical or possible. All types of gifts to Newman, both present and future, are welcome, but there are certain advantages to a planned gift.

Each year, the financial and tax worlds become more specialized and complex. Fortunately, there is still the ability to pass more of your estate to your heirs with an added possibility of converting would-be taxes to philanthropy for Newman. You do have a choice about where your assets will go: to your heirs, the IRS, and to programs of your choice.

In recent years, friends of Newman have provided for the School in their estate plans – including a charitable remainder trust from a grandmother, a gift of an IRA and 401K from an alumnus, and a bequest from a faculty member. Planned gifts create opportunities for both Newman and our donors. There are many giving options from which you can choose. Finding the most suitable option for you is as important as making the gift; you may need the assistance of your professional financial advisor. Options for planned gifts include:

  • Bequest in Will
  • Revocable Living Trust
  • Outright gift of cash
  • Outright gift of securities
  • Outright gift of personal property
  • Gift of life insurance
  • Gift of retirement assets
  • Gift of real estate
  • Gift of retained life estate
