Newman promotes academic excellence and celebrates participation and accomplishment in the fine arts and athletics.
Newman engenders in each student the skills, attitudes, and character necessary for productive lifelong learning and service to others.”

Since 1903

For more than a century, Isidore Newman School has fronted Jefferson Avenue in Uptown New Orleans. It began as just one building, and was founded to educate children living at the Jewish Orphans’ Home, which once stood at the corner of St. Charles and Jefferson Avenues. But from the beginning, the School’s benefactor, Isidore Newman, stipulated that neighborhood children could also attend. Newman quickly became one of the most revered and respected independent schools in the city. It remains so today.
