Newman Sailing Team: Making Waves

Newman’s Sailing Team kicked off their season with a win at the NOYC Girl’s Regatta held Saturday, September 7 on Lake Pontchartrain. Nine all-girl teams participated from Louisiana and Texas schools, including Clear Falls High School, the 2018-19 District Champs and Girl’s Regatta winner. Four races were completed for each division in a light, northeasterly breeze. Sailing for Newman were Emily Alfortish ’21 and Ellie Menszer ’22 in Division A and Ashley Alfortish ’23 and Whitney Gamard ’23 in Division B. The Greenies were victorious in winning both divisions and took 1st place overall. Congratulations, Greenies!
