Manning Fieldhouse & Tuohy Gymnasium Renovation Dedication

At a moving dedication ceremony on Friday, October 21, Isidore Newman School officially unveiled the new, Manning Fieldhouse and renovation of the historic Tuohy Gymnasium. With this project, the School added 8,500 square feet of space that will serve current students and future Greenies for years to come, accommodating for the size and scope of Newman’s physical education and athletics programs.

Since the School’s founding in 1903, inspiring competition and spirit have always been part of the fabric of Isidore Newman School. Named in honor of proud Newman graduates, Eli ’99, Peyton ’94, and Cooper ’92 Manning, children of Olivia and Archie Manning, the Manning Fieldhouse abounds with stories of success both on and off the field. The new, state-of-the-art facility houses the Bordelon Family Locker Room, the Montgomery Head Coach’s Office, along with flexible gathering and meeting spaces, such as the Eustis Flower Room and Miles P. Clements Conference Room, for the entire Newman community to utilize.

Upon entering the Fieldhouse through the Adler Goldring Pavilion, trophy cases displaying accomplishments of Newman girls’ and boys’ athletics recognize and celebrate past student-athletes who have paved the way for future Greenies. With the new Manning Fieldhouse physically connecting to the historic Tuohy Gymnasium, this project honors the past while celebrating the future and completes a cohesive transformation of the south side of Newman’s campus.

“So many inspiring memories have been formed in the Tuohy Gymnasium,” Head of School Dale Smith said. “While it is still very much the historic gym filled with nostalgia, it simultaneously has been renovated and renewed, extending its life into the future. From adding air conditioning to refinishing the court, we are excited that generations of future Newman students will use this space for years to come.”
