Newman Speech & Debate 2023 State Champions

Newman Speech & Debate Earn Recognition as the Overall 2023 State Champions!
 
Newman's state championship team is comprised of 37 members, competing across several events. Each student helped contribute to the team's overall placing. Some highlights from the 2023 State Tournament include: 

  • 4-way Co-Champions in Policy Debate 
  • 3-way Co-Champions in Lincoln Douglas Debate 
  • Individual State Champions in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking & Varsity Impromptu Speaking 
  • In Speech Events: 
    • 15 Finalists 
    • 16 Semifinalists 
  • 24 students in Debate Elimination Rounds 
  • 11 students in the Final Round of Congressional Debate

4 Newman Teams closed out Policy Debate in the semifinal round, and were recognized as co-state champions in Advanced Cross-Examination:
