New Perspectives, opening Tuesday, October 24, is a collaboration with the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
Newman Arts will collaborate with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and the Mexican Consulate to create a groundbreaking intercultural arts experience that explores both the music and visual arts of Latin America. Middle and Upper School Choir students will perform under the direction of the LPO’s own Carlos Miguel Prieto and will be joined by LPO musicians. Visual Arts students at Newman will learn about the beauty of the Latin American culture by collaborating in the studio with visiting artists. This project is made possible by the Beazley Fund, the Oudt Fund, and the Harry T. Howard Foundation. It will conclude in a second exhibition component at both the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Mexican Consulate, where Newman students will exhibit their inspired work later in the year.
