Since its doors first opened in 2015, Green Trees has been a warm and welcoming “village” for early education. It is a community that believes children have a right to high quality care and education that supports their development. Green Trees educators hold an image of the child as capable, a belief that shapes all aspects of the program. The curriculum is rooted in our deep knowledge of early childhood development and brought to life through our Cycle of Inquiry. Teachers partner with children as co-constructors of knowledge, listening, observing, and documenting their ideas to inspire reflection, research, and thoughtfully designed environments that honor children's interests and support exploration, creativity, and collaboration. 

 

The program is guided by the Green Trees philosophy and the five frameworks that guide all of Newman — the Mission, Core Values, Motto, Principles for Civil Discourse, and Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. These are woven into the fabric of the curriculum and guide our relationships with families. Green Trees families are offered abundant opportunities to engage in their children’s school experiences through our signature programs. These opportunities include serving as a room parent, participating in bi-annual parent-teacher conferences, attending Parents’ Night, curating an experience for Harvest Fest and celebrating the children’s work at our end of the year Documentation Showcase. Parents are also invited to learn more about the  Green Trees program during the Fall Curriculum Coffees.
