Life at Newman

School Life

There are as many ways to engage in life at Newman as there are students at our school. Beyond the robust academic and extracurrricular programs, students from Green Trees through 12th grade have time to be with their classmates, play on the playground, share a meal, or just to relax in the many common spaces throughout campus.

The Newman Dining Hall is catered by SAGE Dining, the nation's leading provider of sustainable dining services, which operates dining halls at independent schools and private colleges around the country.

Parents have many opportunities to formally engage with school life through the Newman Parents Association, the Dads Club, and the Green N White Club for the support of athletics. These organizations hold regular meetings, host exciting community-wide events, and offer countless ways to get involved at varying levels of commitment.

The Counseling Department provides support to students and families in all divisions, with counselors for Lower, Middle and Upper Schools. The department also oversees the Human Development curriculum. Throughout the year, counselors hold parent education sessions on topics such as the adolescent brain, substance abuse, and responsible use of social media.

Founded in 1903, Newman has developed many traditions throughout its century-plus of educating students. Founder’s Day, Special Friends Day, the Homecoming Pep Rally and Game, Move-Up Day and Countdown Day are just some of the annual traditions in which students and families engage.
