Learning Opportunities Beyond the School Day
Later Gators is a natural extension of the school day, providing a fun, relaxed, play-based environment where children continue learning through curiosity, exploration, and meaningful relationships. There are two types of programming: Gator Game Time and Specialist Classes. Gator Game Time is available to all age groups daily. Children may be registered for any or all days of the week.

Gator Game Time is available for Primary, Middle & Oldest Learners, registration includes the ability to stay from 3:30- 5:30 p.m.

Specialist classes are available to the Oldest Learners and meet weekly throughout the semester until 4:15 p.m.  You can also register your child to attend until 5:30 p.m. to participate in supervised play after their class ends.

Childcare is not available beyond 5:30 p.m.

Online registration will be open from Thursday, August 6 at 12:00 noon through Monday, August 17 at 12:00 noon.

The staff includes Green Trees faculty members, substitute teachers, and Newman Plus staff.

Gator Game Time | Monday through Friday

Children enjoy time both indoors and outdoors with access to thoughtfully prepared learning environments, open-ended materials, and familiar learning centers, with some fresh materials and choices. They choose how to engage—creating, building, investigating, imagining, and collaborating—while teachers thoughtfully support children's interests through intentional invitations and provocations that encourage inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving.

Children also benefit from mixed-age interactions, where younger children learn by observing older peers, older children develop leadership and empathy, and friendships naturally grow across age groups and school day classrooms. These experiences foster confidence, communication, and a strong sense of community.

Our after school program honors the joy of childhood by balancing child-led play, active outdoor exploration, and responsive teacher guidance in a nurturing environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.

  • 11:30 a.m.– 3:30 p.m.
  • Children will be served lunch and an afternoon snack
  • Children will participate in rest time and should bring a nap mat
Please note: Children must attend school for the full day on the days they attend Special Classes. For example, if your child is enrolled in a three half-day program and is registered for Soccer Shots on Thursday, your child must also register and stay for Lunch Bunch on Thursday as well.

On-the-Spot

If your family unexpectedly needs after school childcare on a certain day, On-the-Spot offers limited spots for children to attend After 3 and Later Gators daily on a first-come, first-served basis.  This program will become available after Labor Day.

In the event your family needs additional after school care that you did not register for at the beginning of the school year, please log in to your Newman Plus account to view current availability and register for the appropriate On-the-Spot reservation. If a day that you need is not listed or shows as “Full,” we are unable to accommodate your request for attendance that day.
