Newman won its first state championship in 1955 in boys basketball. As of March 2024, Newman has won 114 state championships.
Two Newman students have been named Gatorade National Player of the Year in their respective sports: Randy Livingston (Basketball) in 1992 and Peyton Manning (Football) in 1993. Newman athletes have also been named Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year and have earned All-American designation in their sports.
Newman is proud to count among its alumni two Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks, Peyton and Eli Manning, and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham, Jr.
