Newman Students Get Energy Smart!

Jennifer Williams
The highlight of the morning was a fun, fast-paced, and interactive live performance that brought important energy concepts to life. Rather than simply sitting and listening, Newman students became part of the show! Student volunteers joined the actors from the National Theatre for Children on stage, where they helped with demonstrations and skits, answered questions, and used plenty of laughter along the way to explore where our energy comes from, how electricity is used, how energy can be wasted, and what we can do to conserve it.

The program showed our young scientists that even small choices like turning off unnecessary lights and electronics, conserving water, and making energy-smart decisions at home, can make a difference.
The learning will continue at home, too. Students received Energy Smart conservation kits filled with practical tools families can use to help conserve energy and water.

It was a wonderful combination of science, STEM, humor, audience participation, and real-world learning, and and a great reminder that our Newman students can play an important role in building a more energy-smart New Orleans.
