Newman Middle School’s Rising Tennis Star

R. Hibbert
[FULL STORY]

Earlier in September, Newman 7th grader Micah Pierce returned from the Junior Southern Cup in Chattanooga, Tennessee with a load of accolades for her performance at the junior tennis competition.

The Junior Southern Cup invites the top three players (boys and girls) from each age group in the southern states to compete in a tournament. Micah was ranked #1 in Louisiana for girls 12 and under (an accomplishment in itself), qualifying her for the tournament. The players are grouped into a team to compete with tennis players from other southern states.  In all, nine teams from nine states competed at the event, which took place on September 8-11.

Micah’s team won 2nd place in the tournament, but Micah was also awarded Most Valuable Player for her team. Her coach selected her for displaying great sportsmanship, effort, and team spirit. Please join us in congratulating Micah for her performance, determination, and hard work.
