A Comprehensive Renovation of the Bertha Marcus Levy Student Center
When students return to 1903 Jefferson Avenue for the 2024-25 school year, they will be greeted with exciting renovations on campus.
The Bertha Marcus Levy Student Center was built more than 50 years ago through a philanthropic gift of the Marcus and Levy families. The project will replace important infrastructure including the School’s generator and HVAC system for the Stone and Bertha Marcus Levy Buildings.
Project Overview
These important renovations will also centralize some of the most critical support services of the School. The second floor of the Marcus Levy Building will be redesigned to accommodate the Business Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, Security, Breakthrough New Orleans, and the Newman Archives. The capital project includes a new, centrally located, state-of-the-art sever room, fiber optic upgrades to serve the entire campus, and important capacity for future technology infrastructure upgrades campus-wide.
An important dimension of this project will be aesthetic and culinary upgrades to Newman’s Dining Hall – an important communal space for students, families, faculty, and staff. With the renovations, the Sheryl and Bob Merrick Dining Hall will be the site of numerous events on campus for current students, parents, faculty, and alumni. We are excited to unveil the transformation of this important campus space.
