On August 23, the mothers of Newman Football team took to Lupin Field for an annual tradition, Mom’s Night. Dressed in their sons’ jerseys, the moms hit the gridiron for some hands-on learning about the game of football. The mothers watched film in the locker room, learned about their sons’ positions, and ran a few plays on the field. The special event gave the mothers insight into the sport and their sons' contributions to the team, and also offered an opportunity to bond with other football moms. Head Football Coach Nelson Stewart ’95 said, “This is a wonderful tradition that both the coaches and parents enjoy every year. It's just a part of what makes Newman football so special.” The event also gave the mothers a burst of energy to bring to the stands, and it helped them to cheer on the Greenies to a 33-0 victory over Pope John Paul II in Friday’s Jamboree.
