College Placements

T.J. Locke
The college admission process can be a very arduous and stressful experience for students and their families. Julie Taylor-Vaz and Ed Graf, the co-directors of Newman's College Counseling office, work to help each student find the best fit. We want our students to be successful and happy. Even though the college admission process has become more competitive, Newman continues to place students in the most selective colleges and universities in the nation. It seems every school can send some students to selective schools, but what I am most impressed with is the quantity of students that Newman sends off to great schools. In the last four years for example, we have sent eighteen students to the University of Pennsylvania.

When we benchmarked our college admissions to peer schools throughout the country, we were pleased to see that we were among the very top schools in the group, with 62.1% of our seniors getting accepted to the "most competitive" schools as grouped in Barron's.  These statistics are not as important as the individual stories, but it does speak to the excellence of a Newman education. I am proud of our national reputation, and I am privileged to see the great work our teachers and students do here each and every day.
