If you have stories about Matt that you would like to share with his parents, an email has been setup for them to receive. Even if you shared the stories with them this past week, they would love to have them in writing so that they can enjoy them for years. The email address is memoriesofmattsavoie@gmail.com .

Matthew Savoie

T.J. Locke
The entire community was devastated to hear the news of the passing of Matthew Savoie, class of 2009. We all knew Matt to be a fascinating, fiery, and intellectual young man. He was very popular here at Newman, and his life affected so many people. Matt was a merit scholar as well as a star soccer player. He played with an enthusiasm and a controlled recklessness. Hal Sheets spoke about his tenacious play, as he challenged players much bigger than he was. Randy Zell, his advisor, spoke eloquently about the growth he had seen in Matthew in his time here at Newman. We all knew he had tremendous potential. Our sympathies go out to his family, and they also go out to the entire community because it has affected us all. We will dearly miss you, Matt.
