Extra! Extra! If you want to read all about Newman, get the latest edition of The Greenie, the Isidore Newman School student newspaper. The Greenie will be available in both print and online editions. The first print edition will be published in late September, but the online version is available now. Visit the website or visit thegreenie.weebly.com. Read on for more about The Greenie and its editorial staff.
The Greenie is run by an editorial staff of seniors Nick Krueger, Lynne Sneed, and Kyle McGoey. The club is sponsored by English Teacher Anne Konigsmark and Communications Manager Roger Hibbert, and the group meets each Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Lemle 135 to brainstorm and assign stories and to plan and design the print and web issues. All upper school students are invited to attend the meetings and contribute to the paper. To pitch a story idea or submit a story, please email Lynne Sneed at LynneSneed@newmanschool.org.
This year, the paper has a new logo, designed by junior Jules Vetter, and the print edition has a new layout, designed by one of the paper’s editors, Kyle McGoey. Though the paper is written by Newman students, its focus is global. Stories can cover anything from Newman sports and student fashion to New Orleans restaurants, the latest music, marriage rights, or international politics. Nothing is off-limits, and everything is thoroughly explored and expertly written.
A review of the latest stories on the website offers a good idea of what we can expect in the months to come:
