Newman XC Returns from State, 3 Runners Named All-State
This past Monday, the Newman Varsity Cross Country team travelled to Natchitoches to compete in the LHSAA 2A State Championship three-mile race. Runners faced 47-degree temperatures as well as incredibly muddy conditions for much of the course.
All-State selections Allison Nowak '22 and Catherine Cahn '20, finishing 5th and 10th respectively, led the Newman Girls Cross Country team to a 4th place finish out of 14 teams.
On the boys side, Robert Freeman '19 led, finishing 8th overall and also earning All-State honors, as the Boys placed 6th out of 23 teams. In addition, freshman Jackson Shelby '22 ran a fantastic race, as he cruised to 18th overall out of more than 150 competitors.
