Coach Aaron Burns is a native New Orleanian who lived in College Park, Maryland from the ages of 3 to 18. He began playing lacrosse in the 2nd grade and has played ever since. He was a Varsity Captain at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland his sophomore through senior years, where he was named first team All Maryland Independent Lacrosse League twice. After high school, Coach Burns followed an academic scholarship to University of Georgia where he was a four-year starter on the UGA club lacrosse team, winning the SELC League championship as a senior.
From 2009-2016, Coach Burns worked as the lead PE teacher and Athletic Director at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, where he coached flag football, basketball, and lacrosse. He worked with the Carrollton Lacrosse U15 and JV teams prior to joining the Newman family as the first Head Coach of the Newman Varsity Lacrosse Team. Coach Burns individually trained players from 8-year-old beginners to varsity starters privately for three years prior to becoming a Varsity coach.
In addition to his love for lacrosse, Coach Burns is a passionate fan and coach of basketball which he will be coaching at the Middle School level. Above all else, Coach Burns is an enthusiastic teacher of the skills and values of athletic participation and competition.
